When you visit Battleship Wisconsin you're able to tour the Main Deck for free. Both Nauticus and the Hampton Roads Naval Museum offer a series of Educational and Interactive Exhibits that help to bring the Battleship Wisconsin... `back to life'... for visitors of all ages. During Norfolk's Summer Season... you're more than welcomed to visit the Battleship Wisconsin between the hours of 10 AM - 6 PM daily. From Labor Day thru Memorial Day ... hours are 10 AM - 5 PM ... Sunday's open at Noon.

Through special hands-on exhibits... movies... computers and games... visitors can land a jet fighter on an aircraft carrier... navigate an ocean-going vessel... rescue precious sea life in the world's first group virtual reality attraction plus... you can make decisions in a highly realistic Naval Battle.

Nauticus also features the giant-screen Academy Award ® Nominated Film, "The Living Sea" and the Hampton Roads Naval Museum. Nauticus is open from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, 7 days a week (Memorial Day-Labor Day). Hours for the rest of the year are 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Tuesday - Saturday, and Noon - 5:00 pm on Sunday. Tugboat Museum

While visiting downtown Norfolk, why not step aboard a living piece of history? Built in 1933 by Newport News Shipyard Apprentices ... Tug Huntington assisted in docking and launching hundreds of Aircraft Carriers, Submarines and Passenger Liners. A familiar sight in Norfolk's harbor for more than half a century, the Tug Huntington has been restored to her former glory.

Explore the engine room for a view of her massive power plant ... catch a glimpse of tugboat life as you visit the crew's quarters, galley and salon. Then make your way topside to the Captain's Quarters and Wheelhouse. Throughout the Huntington are photographs, exhibits & videos, bringing to life the Huntington's past as well as the history of tugs and the towing industry. Tug Huntington is docked next to Nauticus.


Hampton Roads Naval Museum

One of 10 Museums officially operated by the U.S. Navy ... Hampton Roads Naval Museum highlights the Naval battles & events that took place in the Norfolk area... many of which changed U.S. History. From the battle off the Virginia Capes during the American Revolution, the clash of the first Ironclad Ships during the Civil War (the U.S.S. Monitor and C.S.S. Virginia), to World War II and Desert Storm, turning-point Battles are illustrated through ship models, artwork, underwater artifacts ... more.

The Naval Museum is located inside the National Maritime Center (Nauticus) and is open Monday's 9 AM - 4 PM; Tuesday - Sunday 10 AM - 5 PM.

The MacArthur Memorial

Located in Norfolk's restored 1850 City Hall, the MacArthur Memorial traces the life and military career of the late General Douglas MacArthur ... the controversial War
Hero
who chose Norfolk as his final resting place.

Highlights include World War II artifacts... photopgraphs... documents... paintings... memorabilia... plus... the General's trademark cap, sunglasses, corncob pipe & 1950 Chrysler Crown Imperial limousine ... which is on display in the adjacent gift shop. A separate theater features a 24-minute film that reflects on Gen. MacArthur's life.


Armed Forces Memorial
Town Point Park - Downtown Norfolk Virginia - (757) 664-6620

Located at the southeastern corner of Town Point Park, the Armed Forces Memorial is situated on the banks of Norfolk's beautiful Elizabeth River. Within the memorial are twenty inscriptions of letters written home by U.S. service people who lost their lives in battle. The letters have been cast in thin sheets of bronze, and are scattered across the ground as if blown there by the wind.


Taiwanese Observation Tower
Adjacent to Nauticus - Downtown Norfolk Virginia - (757) 441-2140

Overlooking the Elizabeth River and Battleship ... this ornate Observation Tower was presented to the Commonwealth of Virginia by the Republic of China to commemorate a friendship tour in 1983. Prefabricated pieces of the Tower were constructed in Taiwan and shipped to the United States and assembled on its current platform.

Friendship Park, which surrounds the Tower, is landscaped to resemble an authentic Asian Garden, featuring native plants, flowers and huge coy pond. There's also a small restaurant located at the base of the tower that offers seasonal outside dining

St. Paul's Church

Built in 1739... St. Paul's Church is Norfolk's oldest building and the only Structure to survive the British Destruction of the city on New Year's Day 1776. A cannonball fired by Lord Dunmore of the British Fleet remains lodged in the southeastern Wall. The Church's tree-lined Cemetery is dotted with 17th-, 18th-, 19th- and 20th-Century Tombstones. Featuring a beautiful Tiffany Stained Glass Window, the Church has an active parish to this day. The Public is Welcome in the Churchyard anytime and may visit the interior of the Church Tuesdays-Fridays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Guided tours of the church are offered on request.


Fort Norfolk

Commissioned by George Washington in 1794 ... Fort Norfolk is one of the best War of 1812 Historical Sites in America, as well as the oldest Fort on Virginia's waterfront. Many special events & Military Re-enactments are hosted throughout the Year. To continue the further Education of American History a donation of $2 per-person or $5 per-family is suggested. Fort Norfolk is located on the banks of the Elizabeth River adjacent to the downtown business district.
